Bob's Lake is located in the Land O Lakes region of The Great Waterway. We have fished Bob's a few times in the past and it is a good lake for large and small mouth bass, pike, walleye, lake trout and most notably, black crappie. We filmed a late fall crappie show on Bob's last season and came back this year to see what the Spring fishing was like. We were not disappointed!
The black crappie are large on average and very abundant. We had one rain day during our trip and the action during the rain was non-stop with double header after double header.
Where there are crappie there are also huge schools of bluegills. Bill is shown here holding one of many caught on the green Bingo Bug made by Lucky Bug Lures. Great profile bait with enticing side to side action ideally suited to this type of fishing.
Delicious Fishous! A few of the fish came home for dinner. Most were let go.
Another fistful of crappie. Over the course of the trip we caught between three and four hundred crappie on a variety of techniques. Great way to enjoy a day of fishing with children as well as the action is steady throughout the day in the Spring.
