... of wineries and walleye
If people on the street were asked where this picture was taken I'll bet very few would say Prince Edward County in Ontario.
This is a stunning park with miles of sand dunes, beaches and great water sport activities.
The beaches are very reminiscent of those in the Caribbean.

Immediately adjacent to the Sandbanks is the West Lake Willows campground which is nicely secluded in the trees in the foreground of this aerial shot.
Although hard to see from this angle the campground features only waterfront sites - definitely the place to stay when in the area!

This is the world's largest baymouth barrier dune location and also, because of its location jutting out into Lake Ontario, it is also a bird migration location in the Spring and Fall
Prince Edward County is also known for its antiques, bicycle tours, food and , of course, wineries.
These images are from the Waupoos Winery where we spent some time shooting aerials just as the colours in the leaves were starting to change.
Very nicely laid out property with storefront, restaurant and activities centre and a very outgoing staff.

The winery is located in Waupoos and backs directly onto Lake Ontario.
This view from the southern edge of the property looks out to the east and these are the waters we fished to film the 'Of Wineries and Walleye' episode of The Fish Finders, airing this Fall.

On board PB&J Charters with Captain Joe Pickstock. Joe is a very knowledgeable angler and a lot of fun to share a boat with. We learned a huge amount from Joe and are looking forward to having the opportunity to fish with him again.
This was a new experience for us - fishing walleye in the main part of Lake Ontario before they move into the bays later in the season. The bite at this time of year can go from good to bad very quickly but even on the slow days, with a competent captain like Joe, the fish can still be found.
Bill managed to get the biggest of the day at 11.3 pounds shown here with charter captain Joe Pickstock.
Our average was about 8 or 9 pounds which is pretty impressive anywhere!!
