John Roberts was our guide for most of our time at Ruffo's Sportsman's Lodge. John, and the rest of the guides at the lodge, were fantastic and made the days even more enjoyable. Knowledgeable about the area, knowledgeable about the fishing, John made sure we were on fish for the entire trip.
The walleye fishing in Northern Saskatchewan is crazy good. Like a number of the other northern lakes, these ones were catch and release only with the exception of a few taken for shore lunches (more on that later!)

27.5 inches of Saskatchewan Gold. Bill and John caught similar fish back to back.
A couple of the lakes we traveled to had pools that held huge quantities of walleye. Every drop or every drift produced walleye. Guaranteed.
Not only good quantities but also good quality. These fish represent the average size we caught while targeting walleye
Heavy jigs - up to 1 oz - with large soft plastic shiner profile imitations were best. Although John used 1/4 oz jigs with 2 inch tails with good success, we caught some huge numbers of good fish on 5 and 6 inch plastics.
